Did Jordan Brand "Do The Right Thing" ? Check Out The "Buggin' Out" 4's

Spike Lee’s film “Do The Right Thing” released back in 1989. The movie tells the story of a Brooklyn neighborhood’s simmering racial tension. The film was a critical and commercial success and received numerous accolades and awards, to this day young people such as myself are aware of this iconic film.

For those that don’t know, Spike Lee is an American film director, producer, writer, and actor that has produced over 35 films, this one being the most memorable for most people, especially sneaker heads. Spike Lee is arguably the biggest New York Knick’s fan, he is constantly spotted a NYK games. Spike Lee also has his own model of Air Jordan’s, the Air Jordan Spike Forty which is available across any sneaker retailer if you want to purchase them, click here if interested. The film was so successful that there is even an Air Jordan 3 “Do The Right Thing” which released back in 2007, they currently have an average resell value of $379 according to StockX.

“Do The Right Thing” was written, produced and directed by Spike Lee, he even played a role in the film as Mookie. One of the most memorable scenes from the film was when Buggin’ Out (Giancarlo Esposito) had his Air Jordan 4 “White Cement” stepped on by a white Celtics fan which lived in a black neighbourhood. The Celtics fan scuffed his J’s. Here is the hilarious scene:

To represent the unforgettable clip by Buggin’ Out getting his Air Jordans scuffed, Jordan Brand designed a replica version of the exact Air Jordan 4 worn in the movie. The shoe even includes the Green, Yellow, and Red laces, along with a matching toothbrush Buggin’ Out used to scrub off the scuffed mark.

They were gifted out to F&F in a two-sneaker package featuring the brand new Air Jordan ’89. The package even featured a Jason Markk cleaning kit which commemorates the scene. If Jason Markk had existed back then Buggin’ Out could of had them looking DS !

There is no official news regarding a public release of this pack, my instinct tells me there won’t be a public release, but if there is it would be extremely limited. Stay tuned for more news regarding this pack and possibly a public release, fingers crossed !
